The Simple Procedure of Dental Bonding

Posted .

Dental bonding may at first seem like an intimidating procedure, but it is in fact one of the simplest methods used by dentists to fix a small flaw in your smile. Whether it’s a small stain, discoloration, decay, or some other small flaw you want fixed, speak to our staff here in Mentor, Ohio, about dental bonding to fix your smile.

This cost-efficient method starts simply with consulting with your dentist if this is the correct procedure for you. The first thing your dentist will determine is which color of composite resin will match your smile by comparing it a color swatch. While this is being made, your dentist will scratch the surface of the tooth to create a rough surface for the bonding material to be attached.

Then a conditioning liquid will be applied to prepare for the resin which will then be placed, contoured, and hardened by an ultraviolet light. This light will cure the new bonding material for about 60 seconds. Any excess material after it is hardened will be trimmed off and then given a final polish.

You can go back to your daily life of speaking and eating confidently once you have had a dental bonding procedure done. Be sure to have a follow-up with Albrecht Family Dentistry to make sure the new bonding is functional. Give our staff a call at 440-358-0495 to set up a consultation or make an appointment today!
