Save Your Smile This Year by Making These Resolutions

Posted .

If you want a stronger and healthier smile this year, try making tooth-healthy resolutions! If you want to be successful, our team at Albrecht Family Dentistry recommends making the following resolutions:

Brush properly each day
Brushing is a very important task, which is why it is important that you brush properly. Make sure you use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste while you brush. Brush at least two times a day for two minutes each time. Thoroughly scrub your tooth with a circular motion and do your best to be soft and gentle as you clean along the gum line.

Floss daily
Many people forget to floss each day, but you need to make sure to remember to floss at least once a day, no matter what. Flossing will help you further prevent tooth decay and gum disease, and it will help you completely clean your teeth. You can use whichever flossing product you like best—just make sure you use a clean section of floss as you move from tooth to tooth.

Chew sugarless gum frequently
If you chew sugarless gum throughout the day, your mouth will produce more and more saliva, which will help you prevent tooth decay. As you chew, the saliva will constantly wash your smile and it will neutralize the acids in your mouth. So, make sure you chew sugarless gum for at least 20 minutes after each meal.

Have a healthy diet
Whether you believe it or not, there are foods that are good and bad for your teeth, so it’s important that you keep a healthy diet so your teeth can remain strong and healthy. Some healthy foods you can eat include fresh fruits and veggies. Some bad foods include sugary treats, acidic foods, and soda.

Visit your dentist regularly
Make sure you visit your dentist twice this year. It’s very important that you professionally clean and examine your smile every six months. If you don’t, your smile will be vulnerable to tooth decay and gum disease. So, do your best to commit to your dental visits this year.

Doing these five things will help you achieve the smile you have always wanted. They will help you maintain a clean and protected smile each day.
