A denture is a removable dental appliance created to fill the spaces left by missing teeth and surrounding tissue. Dentures, when used, are an important part of keeping the teeth and mouth in frame when one or more teeth are missing.
There are two types of dentures – complete and partial. Complete dentures are for patients who are missing all of their teeth, while partial dentures will only replace missing teeth. When missing any teeth, partial dentures play an important role in preventing other teeth from shifting position in the mouth.
Typically, our patients receive dentures for the following reasons:
• Complete loss of all teeth in an arch.
• Partial loss of teeth in an arch.
• Enhancing smile and facial tissues.
• Improving chewing, speech and digestion.
Because your mouth and the dental ridges can change or shrink over time, it is possible that you may need a denture reline, to help your dentures stay well-fitted and contoured to your mouth. By relining your dentures, you can decrease the rate at which your dental ridges change or shrink.
The benefit you can receive in our office is that we have an in-house laboratory that can help you have your re-lines made and ready within one day. You will be able to work one on one with our lab technician to make all of your adjustments that are necessary. Our office offers both metal and metal-free partials.
Please give us a call if you have any questions or concerns about your dentures, or how you can receive the quality dentures you need from our practice.
